I had the pleasure of meeting Mary of MADE BY MARY and her beyond cute babe Roman last week. We had the opportunity to meet again yesterday at her home where she also works while raising her family. She was a great example of a positive attitude when faced with speed bumps while getting her business off the ground. One thing that really stood out to me what the quality of her work and how much she cares about delivery an amazing product to her clients. As I watched her work I saw great precision and dedication. I mean there was pile of about 25 pendants that were not quite up to pare that she refused to send out.That is sacrifice right there. Only the best from Mary!
Mary grew up a Texas gal and currently reside in Draper, Utah. She met and married her husband while attending school where she later graduated with a BFA in Clinical Psychology. Shortly after, she had her first son Myles and nearly two years to the day her baby Roman joined the family. Her 'third child' she says, is my hand stamped jewelry business, Made by Mary.
Life with two babies while running a business is quite the adventure. We spend mornings out exploring and visiting loved ones. Afternoons aka “nap time” turn into my work time. With the help of my two assistants, we seem to have a grip on our current work load. We are greeted with challenges on the daily but finding ways to come out on top is part of the fun. Seeing what I am capable of has been very eye opening, yet scary at the same time. My inspiration is easily my family. It’s the little things they do that keep me going: the tiny hugs, hand squeezes, cuddles, and laughs we share that keep me grounded. Surrounding myself with those that love and support me has made all the difference in the success of my business.
Going on two years, Made by Mary has far exceeded her expectations. "What began as an idea transformed into a dream." The success of this business has helping out her family financially while raising her children at home.
Mary's inspirations that helped build momentum to get started were Susan Petersen of Freshly Picked and and episodes of ABC’s Shark Tank! Some this We totally have in common. Shark Tank has quickly become a favorite family past time for Hoodie Love as well. With encouragement and eagerness, my husband pushed me to take those blind leaps to get Made by Mary started.
